Ferozepur, March 27, 2020: In a bid to raise a district-level fund to help people in distress amid the Corona Virus pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Kulwant Singh on Friday has donated his five days’ salary in the Red Cross Covid Relief Fund.
Following DC’s initiative both the ADCs, SDMs, all Tehsildar and Nayab Tehsildar have also donated their five days salary in the fund. Whereas, all the staff members of the DC office have decided to donate their one day salary in the fund, which was raised to help the needy people.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner said that during curfew-like situations daily wagers including rickshaw pullers, laborers, and construction workers are among worst hit people because they have limited resources to feed their families as they rely on their daily wages. The deputy commissioner state that no doubt, the government is doing its best to help this weaker section of the society although it was our social responsibility to come forward for their help and donate in such funds besides providing them essential commodities.
He said that the district red cross society has raised a Covid-19 relief fund named Red Cross Society, Covid-19 relief fund. People can help in this fund in the bank account number 50100320316941, IFSC code HDFC 0000301, HDFC bank through various online payment modes from their homes adding he said that the contribution in the Red Cross Society is exempted from Income Tax Act.
