Farmers’ genuine demands, peaceful protests attract supporters from all sections of society
Ferozepur, December 10, 2020: On Wednesday, three youths of border town Mamdot near Ferozepur expressed their support by writing slogans with their blood in support of the protesting farmes.
It looks like that there is no end for the protests in support of the farmers over the repealing of three Farm Laws, who are sitting at Delhi for the last 13 days. The unique protests had been witnessed urging the government to solve the problem of the farmers. All talks between the farmers outfits and government have failed so far.
Similarly, on Wednesday, three youths of border town Mamdot near Ferozepur – Raju Narang, Ricky Dhawan and Baljit Singh – wrote the slogans – No Farmers No Food in English, Jai Jawan Jai Kissan and Repeal three Farm Laws – in Punjabi, to express solidarity with the protesting farmers and resentment over the attitude of the Centre government.
Added here, on 27 September 2020, President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the three ‘Agriculture Bills’ that were earlier passed by the Indian Parliament. Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Earlier, farmers had launched rail-roko campaign in Punjab blocking the rail tracks. Later on, agreeing to an appealing from the State and Centre government, the farmers lifted the dharna for movement of freight trains which was not acceptable to the railway authorities and passengers trains were also allowed to operate barring one dharna still continuing at Jandiala Guru. The trains for and from Amritsar are being diverted via Beas, Tarn Taran and Bhagtanwala. But all this is putting a great revenue loss to the government in crores and still the talks between the farmers and government are inconclusive.
However, the farmers have got support from all sections of the society – first because of their genuine demands and second for doing a peaceful agitation causing no loss to the government or private properties.
