Ferozepur, June 14, 2021: The Excise raid conducted on Monday in the enclaves of river Satluj in the surrounds of villages – Ali ke, Chandiwala, Habib ke, Nehanganwale chughe, Raje Ki Gatti & Chakar Da Bedha and seized 64,000 ltr of ‘lahan’ and 1050 bottles of illicit liquor.
The illicit liquor business, using ‘lahan’ (raw material for making liquor), has been going on in border areas for a long time. To check the illegal manufacture and sale of illicit liquor, the raids are conduced as a part of operations to control it, said excise official.
The raids were conducted under the supervision of Excise Inspector Gurbakhash Singh, Zira along with excise force.
The other material seized was 32 tarpaulins, 1 iron drum, 4 aluminum utensils, 5 rubber tubes along with 4 working stills and taken into custody.
The entire seized ‘lahan’ and illicit liquor was destroyed on the spot being unclaimed, to avoid its misuse.
