Ferozepur, February 19, 2024: With the recovery of five mobiles, from the prisoner and under trial prisoners, in three different checks in the barracks of Central Jail, by Jasvir Singh and Sukhjinder Singh, Assistant Superintendents, the total recovery during the current month has gone to 18, while it was 64 during January, making the total recovery of 82 during 2024. There had also been 75 packets thrown from outside over the high jail walls by unknown and unidentified persons.
Despite tight security arrangements in and outside the jail premises, the reaching in of mobiles and other banned items could not be stopped and further its usage for illegal purposes cannot be ruled out. With this trend the purpose of keeping the criminals behind the bar as punishment is lost.
As per the details, 3 mobiles were recovered from barrack number 11 one from under trial prisoner Malkit Singh and two as unclaimed. The other two mobiles were recovered – one from barrack number 3 from prisoner Gursher Singh and one from Chakkian from under trial prisoner Shubham.
Meanwhile, a case under the Prisons Act has been registered and further investigations entrusted to Gurmail Singh, IO.
