Ferozepur, April 21, 2021:  Amid the raging second wave of COVID-19, on Wednesday, 5 deaths and 148 fresh positive cases have been reported in Ferozepur, taking the total tally to 196 and 772 active cases respectively.  Deputy Commissioner appealed to all citizens of 45 plus age to get vaccinated to break the Corona chain and feel confident and protected during this pandemic.

During the month of April 1,379 Corona positive cases have been detected with 33 deaths.

As per the report  1,23,071samples were taken for testing since the outbreak of coronaviru, out of which 1,15,806 were tested negative, 6,595 positive. There was also recovery in 5,627 cases.  Presently, 772 Corona positive cases are active in Ferozepur and testing report of 670 samples is still awaited.   However, today 5 deaths – 3 females of 42, 73 and 95 years and 2 males of 49, 56 years in Feroshah, Ferozepur and Kassoana blocks have been reported taking the total tally to 196 deaths in the district.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Gurpal Singh Chahal has directed the health department to expedite  the vaccination campaign in the district.  He said, the vaccination is free in government hospitals and completely safe treatment to curb the corona and simultaneously taking precautionary measures of using masks, hand sanitization and maintaining social distance is also more important as per the guidelines of the government to completely control the spread of coronavirus, even after getting vaccinated.

The DC said, after getting the Covid-19 vaccine, I feel more confident and protected during this pandemic period as vaccine is the biggest shield which protects all of us from Covid-19.

He also advised the citizens to restrict their movement and move out only in emergency case and following the Corona guidelines and lockdown norms.

The first and second dose to 54,990 persons of the age group from 45 plus age including health and frontline workers, has been administered as of today, said Dr.Yuvraj,  District Epidemiologist.
