32,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ recovered and destroyed to avoid its misuse
Ferozepur, April 18, 2021: In a joint raid by excise and police officials, 32,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered in the enclaves Sutlej in the surrounds of village Ali Ke near Ferozepur.
This is the fifth recovery of huge quantity of ‘lahan’. Earlier recoveries were made – 13,000 ltrs on April 11, 12,000 ltrs on April 12, 50,000 ltrs on April 17, 28,00 on April 18. In the past also there had been various operations had been carried out to thwart the attempt of sale of illicit liquor in the area. None of the accused involved in this could be arrested as they fled away from the scene on seeing the raided party.
The entire operation was carried out under the tutelage of J.S,Brar, Deputy Commissioner Excise by a team of excise inspector Gurbaksh Singh Zira Circle along with the excise, police force of Ferozepur.
During the raid 28,000 litrs ‘lahan’ was recovered and destroyed on the spot. As many as 32 big tarpaulins used in brewing the lahan were taken into custody as case evidence. Meanwhile a case has been registered at PS Sadar Police station and further investigations are on.
