26,000 Punjab Depot Holders announced to support Congress during Assembly elections
Ferozepur, January 23, 2017: Sukhwinder Singh Kanjla, State President, Punjab Depot Holders Association in its meeting held today at Ferozepur announced to support Congress during Assembly elections in the State.
Heera Sodhi Youth Congress leader son of Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Congress MLA and contesting from Guruharsahahi was specially present alongwith Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa, President, District Congress Committee. He assured that Congress will priority to the demands of depot holders on coming to power.
In the absence of sufficient commission for selling essential commodities, ration depot holders are on the brink of closure.
Speaking to the media persons, Sukhwinder Singh Kanjla & Jagtar Singh Bhawra, District President said, we got relief only from the court with regard to commission to the depot holders otherwise we have been deprived of the benefits by the SAD government.
He said, even though the matter was brought to the notice of Food Supply Controller several times but no concrete steps have been taken so far.
After the issue of low commission and the salary was raised several times, the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Adesh Parap Singh Kairon in 2013 had announced hat the salary for the depot holders will be started but nothing has been done so far in this regard.
State President said, despite holding various meeting s with the department officers and concerned minister including the Deputy Chief Minister, the progress in the past several years of their tenure has never moved beyond promises.
Our Association has met Capt Amarinder Singh who has assured to take care of the demands of the depot holders and has made a part of the election manifesto to review the distribution scheme under which the other essential commodities like sugar and tea distribution to the card holders will also be included., said Kanjla.
