19 mobiles, banned items recovered from 9 packets from Ferozepur jail
Ferozepur, March 4, 2023: The recovery of mobile phones and other banned items from inside the jail from the jail inmates or throwing of packets over the high walls from the open space on the backside of the jail. Recently, there was recovery of 19 mobiles and other banned items.
Earlier also, 5 packets thrown from outside were found containing mobiles. During the last year, 440 mobiles were recovered from the jail and so far more than 100 mobiles have been found during the current year. Open space on the back of jail and touching the high rising private buildings give a chance to the miscreants, to throw the packets containing banned items over the high walls.
However, the vigil jail staff has thwarted various attempts with recovery of mobiles to avoid its misuse from inside the jail. The security at the entry points is being intensified to stop the smuggling in of mobiles and other items.
Yogesh Jain, Deputy Superintendent noticed that someone had crossed over the wall of the courtyard and on following Wakil Singh under trial prisoner was nabbed. Later on, during search, 9 packets were recovered and on its opening, 14 key-pad mobile, 5 touch screen mobiles, one charger, 4 headphone, 4 data cables, 2 SIM cards, 33 packs cigarettes, 34 sachets zarda were recovered.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered on the complaint of Rishavpal Singh, Assistant Superintendent, against Wakil Singh under trial prisoner and unidentified person, under Prisons Act with appointment of Gurmel Singh as IO.
