25 villages affected due to interrupted power supply, demand cropped up to convert Grid 66 KV to 220 KV

Ferozepur, June 6,2021: During the recent storms, the power supply to 25 villages and part of urban areas, was badly affected for almost a week causing inconvenience to the people due to summer days. The people of the rural Ferozepur have demanded to upgrade Power Grid 66 KV to 220 KV for uninterrupted power supply.

Due to strong winds on May 31, the sub-division Jhok Hari Har supply to Halqa Rural Ferozepur failed due to the collapse of the towers of 66 KV power supply. The outgoing power supply was completely cut off which affected more than 25 villages . This had a drastic effect on the farmers, electric business as they had to burn expensive diesel to run their business and irrigate the paddy nursery.

Prof. Mehal Singh Nasira Khalchian said that where small businesses were badly affected during the Corona epidemic. Due to lack of power supply there, the farmers’ budget has deteriorated due to the high cost of diesel fuel. He said that due to 66 KV Power Grid of Jhok Hari Har, power supply in the area was often disrupted non-availability of required voltage, power supply was often cut off and different villages had to be face same problem.

Former SGPC Member Davinder Kaur, Malkit Singh Sarpanch Jhok Hari Har, Gurmeet Singh Uppal Jhok Hari Har, Nirmal Singh Jhok Hari Har, Lakhwinder Singh Nambardar Nasira Khilchi, Virsa Singh Chuhar Khilchi, Buta Singh Dheera Patra, Jeet Singh Nambardar, Lakhwinder Singh Nambardar Mahima, Gurmeet Singh Nambardar Mahima, Amar Singh Sarpanch Mahima, Jaswant Singh Bhawra Azamshah, Gurmeet Singh Sarpanch New Gama Wala Area Panchayat, The leader of the social service organization has demanded from the Punjab government to upgrade 66 KV sub-division power house at village Jhok Hari Har in Ferozepur rural constituency to 220 KV so that the people of the area can be free from this problem. People do not have to suffer from disasters.

When we spoke to SDO Jhok Hari, he said that the employees are working to fix the towers. But for the convenience of people supplies are being diverted from Sadiq and Deep Singh Wala. As soon as the tower is installed, people will be provided uninterrupted supply.
