115 Covid-19 +ve cases reported in 24 hrs in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, January 13, 2022:  On a single day, there is a sudden surge in Covid +ve cases with the surfacing of 115 on a single in last 24 hours in Ferozepur district, taking the total active cases tally to 482 and Punjab appears to be heading for the worst on the Covid front as the state reported 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.

During the last five days, there is increase in positive cases from zero for quite some months.  It was 16 positive cases on Jan. 7, 60 on Jan. 8, 76 on Jan. 9, 79 on Jan. 10, 19 on Jan. 11, 111 on Jan.12 and 115 today.

Earlier, 3,37,180 samples were taken, out of which 14,959 were reported positive, 14,003 recovered, 3,21,946 negative and the reports of 245 samples are still awaited. Since the outbreak of Coronavirus in this part, the third wave has started and as of today, 482 are active positive cases with total death tally to 504 in the district.

In the active cases are BSF and health officials including 8 female employees of Ferozepur Cantonment board.  Despite a surge in positive cases, the people are not serious and are seen moving without masks and there is a violation of Corona protocols.

Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, the schools and colleges have been closed and students are being imparted online classes as a precautionary measure.

The health department has appealed to the people to follow the guidelines for self and others’ safety by wearing masks, sanitizing hands frequently and avoiding joining crowded places.  Only with the cooperation of each citizen, we can win over the chronic virus.
