110 cases settled in Monthly Lok Adalat with Rs.1.23 crore awards in Fazilka
Fazilka, March 18, 2017: As many as 110 cases were settled in Monthly Lok Adalat at Fazilka with an award of Rs.1,23,66,850, said, Lachhman Singh, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fazilka and K.K.Bansal, CJM cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority.
Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, it is a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably. Lok Adalats have been given statutory status under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Bansal said, the Lok Adalat decisions give relief to the common men besides saving time and money. Moreover, no appeal can be made against the orders of Lok Adalat.
He further said, the next National Lok Adalat will be held on April 8, 2017 throughout India.
