Zira Stir: Sanjha Morcha decides to stay away from Committees
Ferozepur, December 31, 2022: Just after a day of giving names of 28 persons for the 4 committees and numerous meetings, changes in the meeting members, the Sanjha Morcha in its popular Twitter – Tractor to Twitter – have conveyed the message that the committees formed by the government, for fact-finding report are favouring liquor mafia so the protesters have decided to stay away from them.
It has also been stated that the committees were also formed by the Supreme Court during farmers’ protest and farmer leaders knew these committees were formed to dilute protest and they stayed away.
Sanjha Morcha leaders said, we are sitting on dharna for the last 160 days to save the water and environment. The FIRs against the protesters have not been withdrawn. The interview of Rajvir Singh who died in the village will be taken as his dying declaration and the plant owners should be booked. The polluted water is still coming out of the tube-wells and the factory should be closed forthwith and legal action may be initiated against the factory owners.
Meanwhile, the farmer leaders have also written a letter to the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann stating that the working of the government committees looks to be suspicious being pro-factor owners. The protesters are now demanding first that the FIRS registered against them should be cancelled.
BKU (Rajewal) Balbir Singh Rajewal also visited Mansurwal village along with thousands of workers in support of the protesters. He said liquor factories everywhere spread pollution. The government has divided the people over politics instead of solving the problem of polluted water in the area.
On the other hand, Sagar Setia, ADC(G) said, the court will be apprised of the latest situation. However, the committees constituted by the government are doing their work and Sanjha Morcha should also cooperate with the committees.
