Zila Parishad election winner, over 50 unidentified persons booked for attempt to murder
Ferozepur, September 30, 2018: After days of the complaint, the Mamdot police station has booked Shalinder Singh who won the Zila Parishad election on Akali Dal seat along 50-60 unidentified associates, on the case on the statement of Nasib Singh Sandhu – PA to Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Sports Minister from Guruharsahai constituency – resident of village Malluwala under Mamdot police station – who lost the Zila Parishad, Zone No.5 of Jodhpur Zone election held on 22-9-2018 under FIR No,108 dated 22.9.2019 Under Sections 307, 148, 149, 427 IPCs 1860 and 25, 27 Arms Act 1959.
Nasib Singh Sandhu has alleged that he along with his brother Jasvir Singh and Davinder Singh, Jaspal Singh friends, was coming out from Govt. Sr. Sec. School for Boys Mamdot, some 50-60 unidentified persons, to whom he can identify on producing before him and Shalinder Singh who was candidate of Akali Dal from Jodhpur for Zila Parishad elections holding.12 bore gun and Baljit Singh Akali leader having pistol challenged and Shalinder Singh threatened with dire consequences and fired on him but unfortunately he saved himself by sitting on the floor. He has also alleged there was also stone pelting by some Akali workers while Baljit Singh hit his car with a brick. However, on seeing the police, they fled away from the scene.
It may be mentioned here that Shalinder Singh Akali candidate has won the pachayat election by 413 votes and there was a scuffle after the getting the winning certificate from the RO around 10 pm.
It is not understood as to how the case has been registered after seven days and nothing is mentioned in Col No.8 under the head ‘Reasons for delay in reporting by the complainant/informant’.
Now the police have registered the FIR on the complaint of Nasib Singh Sandhu – a Congress candidate, reportedly lodged 7 days back but according to Shalinder Singh – Congress candidate, the Akalis have not digested his winning.
Condemning the registration of a case, Shalinder Singh has demanded the in-depth investigation of the case and in case the FIR is not withdrawn, his party workers will resort to agitation to register their protest.
