Woman gives birth to baby in Shramik special train with passenger’s help
Ferozepur, June 13, 2020: Among the migrant workers trapped in the lockdown, a pregnant woman successfully gave birth to a baby between Pathankot and Jalandhar while traveling in the Sharmik Special Train which left for Champa (Chhattisgarh) from Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on 12.06.2020.
When a pregnant woman had labour pain in a moving train, some quick-thinking passengers created a makeshift labour room with clothes for her to have privacy as she gave birth.
The pregnant woman was successfully delivered at 9.45 pm with the help of female c0-passengers aboard the train. Upon successful delivery, a wave of happiness ran through the passengers.
Meanwhile, the RPF jawans escorting the train informed the control room that the female passenger is in need of milk and medical help which was made available when the train reached at Jalandhar around 9.46 pm.
The medical team examined the health of the mother and the newborn baby and reported to be completely healthy. Her husband and mother-in-law were also traveling with the woman When he was asked to get off the train and go to the health center, she refused to get off the train but the required items during the travel like milk, water and packed food were provided by Nitish Kumar, Commercial Officer and Station Superintendent Yashwant Singh.
Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agrawal informed that even though the mother and child were healthy, the upcoming stations were informed to make available any assistance required during the journey. He informed that this was the third case of successful delivery with the blessings of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in the Shramik Special Trains departing from Ferozepur Division from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
