Ferozepur, February 23:  On the last day of campaigning for Municipal Elections poll in Punjab, it was hectic day for the political leaders and workers and for the voters as well.  Today, a joint rally by BJP and Akali leaders and workers was organized outside Delhi Gate as a part of campaigning for the MC polls scheduled for February 25.

The present among those were Sher Singh Ghubaya, MP, Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President, Jugrjaj Singh Katora, District BJP Chief, J B Chandan, BJP leader, Master Gurnam Singh, senior Akali  leader, Navneet Kumar Gora, District President SAD and in good number of supporters of both the parties.

Out of 31 wards in Ferozepur, two candidates – each one of BJP and Akali from ward No. 13 and 21 namely Mandeep Kaur and Charnjeet Kau – have been elected as unopposed.  In the remaining 29 wards, the fight is between SAD-BJP candidates and Independents in certain wards.  While Congress stands nowhere in the race.

Perhaps it was the first time since the start of the campaign that a joint session has been organized on the last day of campaigning by BJP and SAD.  Both the party leaders spoke for vote for the candidate jointly.

The BJP has fielded its candidates on 23 seats while Akalis have put their candidates on 8 seats as per the mutually agreed shared formula.

AttAcking on Congress MLA Pinki, he said, he had been false statements about making efforts for starting of Fzr-Chd train whereas it is due the efforts of Akali BJP leaders.

Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President said, we are fighting on the development agenda and asked the citizens to vote for the alliance party candidates keeping in view various projects undertaken at the state and local level and in pipe line like opening of government college, PGI satellite centre, Astroturf etc.

He raised a question as to why there has not been development during the last three decades when there had been government both at the centre and in the state. He assured the citizens to give facelift to the Ferozepur in the coming three-four years.

Speaking on this occasion, Navneet Kumara, SAD District President appealed for vote in favour of SAD-BJP candidates for all the 31 seats, forgetting that two candidates have already been elected as unopposed.

He said, Congress have a zero balance vote during the MC polls in Ferozepur.

Jugraj Singh Katora, BJP District President also made an appeal to vote for the alliance candidates.

Master Gurnam Singh in his address said that the citizens should take both BJP and SAD candidates as joint candidates of alliance.
