War Against Drugs : Ferozepur Police Seize 23.566 kg heroin, arrest 203 in Q1 2025

Ferozepur, March 30, 2025: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Ferozepur district police have seized 23.566 kg of heroin, arrested 203 individuals across 97 cases, and confiscated illegal weapons and drug money in the first three months of 2025 (Quarter 1 – January to March) as part of Punjab Police’s ongoing “War Against Drugs” initiative. The haul includes 15 grams of poppy husk powder, 10,655 tablets/capsules, Rs 3.28 lakh in drug proceeds, and five pistols with seven magazines recovered in NDPS-related cases.

In a recent breakthrough, police arrested six suspects in separate operations, recovering 8.163 kg of heroin, Rs 15,700 in cash, a car (PB-02-ET-3069), and an illegal firearm. Senior Superintendent of Police, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu credited the success to special teams deployed to dismantle drug smuggling and criminal networks in the district.

Key arrests include Akash alias Chhotu (29) from Amritsar, nabbed by Mallonwala police with 8.163 kg of heroin, Rs 700, a mobile phone, and the seized car. In a parallel operation under the Arms Act, Sadar Ferozepur police apprehended Sukhpreet Singh alias Captain (22) of Noorpur Sethan with a .32 bore country-made pistol, three live rounds, and a Hero Deluxe motorcycle, alongside Baljinder Singh alias Bunty (25) of Rukna Mughala, arrested for illegal arms possession.

SSP Sidhu emphasized that intensified efforts will continue to target drug peddlers and criminal elements, promising stringent action to curb the menace in Ferozepur. The campaign underscores Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug trade and ensuring public safety.
