Waive off farmer’s loan, if Capt government is farmer friendly: Lakhowal
Ferozepur, January 18, 2018: In case the Punjab government led by Capt Amarinder Singh is really friendly, then it should waive off the entire loan of farmers, said Harinder Singh Lakhowal, General Secretary, Bharti Kisan Union (Lakhowal), Punjab and Bhupinder Singh Mahesari, Vice President, in a meeting held at a historical gurudwara Zamini Sahib Bazidpur today under the tutelage of Amrik Singh, District President, Mamdot.
Speaking on this occasion, Lakhowal said, earlier Modi government has formed the government at the centre and now Capt Amarinder Singh in Punjab by cheating the farmers with false promises before the elections but hardly anything has been done for the farmers.
He said, the year 2018 is a difficult time for the farmers but their unity will teach a lesson to the government.
An ultimatum up to March 12, 2018, has been given to the government that in case the promises made with the farmers are not fulfilled then in the coming elections, will face the consequences and the start will be with the gherao of Delhi on March 13, said Lakhowal.
Lakhowal said, a public-contact programme has been started by the farmers in Punjab and a further programme is also being chalked out. He said the main demands of the farmers are an implementation of Dr.Swaminathan report, waving off the loan of farmers, to keep the agriculture out of GST group, and an announcement of meaningful farming.
He also said that in case these demands are accepted by the centre, the farmers will not commit suicides. Moreover, the World Trade Organisation has become a big danger for the farmers which would also be deadly for the developed country like India.
