Ferozepur, March 17, 2023: Three men allegedly involved in an illegal immigration racket were arrested from different areas of the city on Thursday to dupe people on the pretext of sending them abroad. In all, 15 immigration owners have been booked and the action is going against the rest as per the law.
Divulging with details, Manjit Singh, DSP (D) said, a tip-off was received on illegal practices being carried out in the city and three persons have illegally opened immigration offices and these people are sending innocent people and students who want to study abroad or as visitor, in Canada, Australia, England etc. They are deceiving people by showing fake admissions in foreign universities and college huge amount of money from them.
He said, the three accused – identified as Parteek Thukra of Makhu, Harpreet Singh and Subheg Singh of Ferozepur – have been arrested under Section 420 IPC and 13 Punjab Travels Professionals Regulation (PTPR) Act 2014 for opening illegal immigration offices and sending innocent students who want to study in abroad at Canada, Australia, England etc.
Meanwhile, further investigations are on to expose the nexus and arrest the other persons involved in this act and no recovery if any has so far been revealed.
SP (D) however stated that further investigation/action is pending in this regard, if any other person or organization if found working in a legal manner, action will be taken against him as per law. Giving a word of advice, he said, the general public should approach only the licence holder institution so that any kind of finance loss could be avoided.
