Railway plans to rebuild 1308 stations across Bharat, 71 stations in N.Rly 5 divisions
Ferozepur, October 27, 2023: Through the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Indian Railway plans to rebuild its 1308 railway stations across the country. It seeks to accommodate numerous other facilities in addition to improving passenger transit and making it safe and comfortable. Currently, in its first phase, 508 stations are under renovation. Out of these the Northern Railways have been assigned 71 stations across its 5 divisions.
One such station is the Dhandari Kalan station, under its Firozpur division which has been allotted a budget of 17.6 crores. The redevelopment plan includes improvement and beautification of the circulation area of about 1838 sq. meters. Establishment of a new entrance porch of about 160 sq. meters to make movement easier for its passengers. Extending the High-level (HL) passenger platform by 160 sq. meters to ensure passenger safety. Construction of new platform shelters (850 sq. meters) on platform no.1. Improving elevation work and interiors of waiting halls, concourse and booking office.
Building a new toilet block of about 90 sq. meters which will be Divyang Jan to make it more convenient for the passengers. Installing good quality and durable furniture. Establishment of a parking facility of about 990 sq. meters to ensure stress-free parking. Construction of a 12-meter wide foot-over-bridge along with ramps to make the station more accessible for the passengers. Construction of an executive lounge of about 40 sq. meters and also of an air-conditioned waiting hall of about 110 sq. meters to make travel easier.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme seeks to improve the overall quality of the traveller experience. It emphasizes passenger safety and comfort and aims to transform train stations into dynamic travel centres. With this scheme, the railways plan on making travel more efficient, sustainable, faster and friendly for both the passengers and the broader public.
