Two mobiles recovered from Jail inmates during search operation
Ferozepur, March 17, 2020: Two mobiles from jail inmates during the search operation were recovered posing a security threat to the premises.
In view of frequent recoveries of mobiles from inside the jail, the Jails department is reported to be having an understanding with BSNL authorities to experiment for installation of portable mobile phone jammers, which can block signals in a given area, in barracks where notorious inmates are lodged, to put a check on mobile usages. Earlier, the large jammers have failed due to various reasons rather obstruct with the network of civilians around the jail premises.
On the complaint of Hari Singh, Asstt. Superintendent Jail, a case under Section 52-A Prisons Act has been registered against the prisoners under trial identified as Harcharan Singh of Delhi and Mandeep Singh of Makhu presently lodged in Central Jail, for recovery of most wanted banned items of two mobiles with batteries and SIM Cards.
Meanwhile, Roshan Lal has been appointed as IO and further investigations are on with special focus on its smuggling inside the jail and its usage to know the purpose of its usage. However, the security has been intensified in and around the jail premises.
