Two days’ 3rd Basant Mela by Lions Club Aashirwad at Ferozepur concludes
Aim of ‘mela’ is to attach young generation with old cultural heritage : Sharma
Ferozepur, February 2 ( FON Bureau): The two days’ “3rd Basant Mela” organized by Lions Club Aashirwad – – 7 Start Platinum Club of the International Association of Lions Clubs – a non-political international social organization – concluded on Sunday evening at the grounds of local MLM Sr.Sec. School, Ferozepur Cantt.
Giving this information, Lion Deepak Sharma, President, said, the idea behind organizing such event is to give a spot to the citizens of Ferozepur to have entertainment, generating funds for the welfare projects of the Club and to welcome the spring season. Another aim of the mela is to attach the young generation with the old cultural heritage and adopt the same in their life.
Like previous years, it will be a regular feature, as Ferozepur being a border town lacks in recreational sources, said Lion Surinder Sharma, Principal Retd. Chairman of the project.
The inaugural ceremony was performed by Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President while afternoon and evening sessions were attended by Sher Singh Ghubaya, MP, Joginder Singh Jindu, MLA, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA H.S.Mann, SSP, Parambir Singh Parma,SP(Vig.) and others.
The first day the mela started with burning of China made string with a message to the society not to use this ‘killer thread’ for flying kites. Followed by was performance from the prominent Pollywood start and singers –Anmol Gagan Mann, Jenny Johal, Sargam, Happy Raikoti, Dipreet Dhillon, Mohdeep Mann,Ananpal Billa, Jaswinder Singh Kaka with anchoring by Gurnam Gama and Harinder Bhullar which compelled audiences to glue to their seats with spontaneous impromptu one-liners.
The other attractions of the mela were – rides, food court, shopping arcade, exhibition stalls and special attraction was mehandi and nail art. Besides this, kite flying competition, solo/group dance performance, talent hunt, fancy dress competition for kids, magic show, tambola, baby show, comedy show and singing.
