Truck transporting cows catches fire
Fazilka March 16, 2019: A truck loaded with more than two dozens cow meant for illegal transporting to other states for smuggling escaped despite blockade by the Cow Protecting Committee members and police in village Rukanpura Khui Khera in Fazilka touching Ganganagar in Rajasthan, caught fire after hitting the divider, killing three cows.
According to the information, around 4 in the morning, the gang of smugglers of Abohar Sub Division's Ruknpura Khui Khera village near the border of Rajasthan had loaded nearly 2 dozen cattle in trucks and moved to Sitto Road towards Haryana. . Meanwhile, seeing the police blockade on the way, the cow smugglers intentions changed, and they took the truck tree from Defense Road towards Rajasthan. Immediately, the Ganganagar police was informed by the Cow Protection Committee members. On noticing the chasing of the truck by the police, the truck driver was frightened to see himself surrounded by the police, the truck hit the divider and caught fire resulting in the death of three cows.
In the meantime, the CPC members started the treatment of injured cows. The accused have been booked under The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and Motor Vehicles Act and police investigations were on.
Despite the ban, the incidents of illegal transporting of animals are increasing. The police are not digging deeper to go to the bottom of such cases because of which there is no fear among smugglers. The police must take strict action against the accused, said Cow Protection Committee members.
