Traffickers using women to supply drugs in Ferozepur, 2 women among 4 booked

Ferozepur, January 28, 2024: Fear of police raids and frequent crackdowns have forced traffickers to devise ingenious methods of smuggling drugs into the city. They are now using women and children as decoys to deliver the supply at the customer end in small quantities.  Based on the past recoveries by the police, the drug peddlers have stopped moving with commercial quantities of drugs and are instead using women with small quantities to hoodwink the police.

It is evident from the recovery of 235 gm of heroin recovery from four persons including two women by different police stations in the district. In one case 40 gm heroin was recovered from Pooja of Ferozepur, 110 gm from Luvpret Singh of Faridkot from Kot Ise Khan in Ferozepur,  50 gm from Gurmeet Kaur alias Mito of Zira and 45 gm from Maqbool of Makhu.

With law enforcement agencies cracking down on trafficking of drugs, traffickers are resorting to new tactics by involving more women to evade police scrutiny.  In all the recoveries, the cases have been registered under Sections 21, 61, 85 of NDPS Act and further investigations are on with special focus on backward and forward history to crack the supply chain.
