To solve Cantonment issues, Harsimrat and Sukhbir Badal submit detailed report to PM
New Delhi, July 25, 2019: To solve the problems of 62 Cantonment Board including Ferozepur Cantt, a detailed report has been submitted to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
This was disclosed stated by Harsimrat Kaur Badal Union Cabinet Minister, in Government of India and Sukhbir Badal, MP from Ferozepur after showing the Parliament proceedings from the visitors’ gallery to the journalists from Ferozepur in his office. A group of journalists from Ferozepur had been invited to Delhi to witness the Parliament live proceedings.

Sukhbir Badal said, earlier also the memorandum of demands submitted by Joginder Singh Jindu former MLA and Sureinder Singh Baboo former Vice President Cantonment Board has also been forwarded to the PM and Defence Minister.
He expressed concern over deletion of over 30,000 votes from the list of Ferozepur Cantt including the councillors. He however, assured to restore their right to franchise by re-enrolment.
The matter has been taken up with the Prime Minister and Defence Minister about the ownership of houses in Cantonment and the problems being faced in registration who had assured to solve the same shortly.
Sukhbir Badal and Harsimrat Badal said, the PGI Satellite Centre project in Ferozepur has finally been cleared by the Health Ministry, which has earlier failed to take off which was sanctioned in 2013 during the fag end of UPA-II regime due to procedural tangles between the State and Central governments.
It was a rate opportunity for the journalists to sit in the visitor’s gallery in the Parliament as none of them had earlier entered the Parliament to get a chance to view the live proceedings going on in the hall.
Talking about the ambitious project, Sukhbir Badal, Member Parliament from Ferozepur said, I was trying with the Health Minister for the last one month and I was informed that the project stands cleared and it will be a state-of-the-art hospital – a world class hospital in Ferozepur. Once this PGI project is completed, it will give a major fillip to the super-specialized health needs of the border towns, who had to now rush to the nearby places like Faridkot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalanadhar or Chandigarah.
Added here, the satellite centre for Sangrur and Ferozepur were passed at the same time and while at Sangrur had already taken off whereas at Ferozepur it was still facing the dilly-dallying at certain levels. Earlier the state government had approved to transfer 25-acres situated in Malwal Kadim village which belonged to the Horticulture Department for setting up 100-bed centre. A sum of Rs.500 crore is likely to be spent on the project.
Diwan Chand Sukhija, an active NGO demanded that the government should take up the construction work on a war footing to accomplish it at the earliest in the wider interest of common man.
Harsimrat Badal said, one project each in Ferozepur and Fazilka of Food Processing would be set up soon at a cost of Rs.46 crores which will give employment to the people of the area.
Talking about the Ferozepur-Patti rail project, they said, this matter too is under active consideration of the Rail Ministry. They also said, Ferozepur-Haridwara train will also be discussed with the Rail Minister.
