Slew of activities is being organized under the Poshan Maah to create awareness against malnourishment
Ferozepur, September 25, 2019: In a first-of-its-kind, 225 Nutri Gardens (Poshan Bagichies) are going to be set up in the district under Poshan Abhiyan, where all the required vegetables and fruits would be grown. All these harvested vegetables and fruits would be used to prepare meals and serve the children and their mothers to promote awareness towards nutrition.
A team of woman and child development department under the Poshan Abhiyan on Wednesday planted a Nutri Garden at government school in village Suba Khan Chand.
Divulging more, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Mr. Chander Gaind said that slew of activities are being held in the district including setting up of Nutri Gardens in the district, where all the nutrition food will be grown up and harvested to combat malnutrition in the district.
As a part of state government's initiative, the similar Nutri Gardens will be set up across the Anganwadi Centers, added deputy commissioner.
Mr. Gaind said that the Nutri-Gardens will be equipped with vegetables of all kind right from greens to tubers would be grown, adding he said that a total of 225 Nutri-Gardens (Poshan Bagichies) has been identified in the district have been identified for the project.
He further added that realizing its role in combating malnutrition among the children and pregnant women, the district administration has taken up the initiative. The fresh vegetables and fruits grown in these gardens would be used to feed both children and women, said Mr. Gaind.
