Taekwondo Martial Art : Coach misguides students for its recognition under sports quota admissions and jobs
Ferozepur, July 30, 2017: The Taekwondo martial art Coach is misguiding the students and parents, for having recognition of competition certificates of national and international level, for gradation purposes for seeking admission and government jobs.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and national sport of South Korea and used by the sourth Korean military as a part of its training which general includes a system of blocks, kicks, punches and open-handed strikes, take-downs or seeps, throws and join locks.
Anil Gupta, General Secretary, Progressive Federation for the Blind, Punjab has leveled charges against Taekwondo Coach Pankaj Chaurasia who is running Yodha Martial Arts Academy, Punjab Ferozepur, is misguiding the students while making registration of coaching this game as the certificate issued is not recognized for gradation purposes for getting admission in the Punjab University.
Anil Gupta, visually impaired working as Music Lecturer in Government College quoting the case of her own daughter said, the private sports coaching centre is misguiding the students about the validity of certificate of participation at station and national level competitions of Taekwondo for gradation purposes for getting admissions for higher qualification and priority in job.
Sunil Kumar Sharma, District Sports Officer said, when approached about the validity of Taekwondo certificates issued by the private sports coaching centres – that coaching of Taekwondo game and organizing participation of students in various competitions, by the private coach needs to be discouraged as this game is not recognized so far by the Punjab Olympic Association.
Anil Gupta said, Pankaj Chaurasia is putting a big question mark on the future of the students by misguiding the parents and students about the national and international level tournaments and there is no proper record with him. More-over, Yodha Martial Arts Academy Punjab Ferozepur is not registered even.
He further said, it came to his notice only when her own daughter had approached the Punjab University Chandigarh for admission in LLB on the basis of sports quota but the sports certificates were not entertained.
Shubam Gupta has number of Taekwondo championship certificate of national and international level to her credit without any acknowledgment at any level.
He also appealed to the parents to verify the recognition of the sports game and institution before sending their wards for coaching purposes.
It is pertinent to mention that Shubam Gupta daughter of Anil Gupta has played in the international level tournament at Bhutan during December 2016 arranged by Pankaj Chaurasia coach was rejected as the certificate issued by him has neither any recognition from any institution and available on any website.
Drawing attention of the district administration and government, Anil Gupta has demanded action against the coach for misguiding the students and parents in the name of recognition of Taekwando participation certificate issued by him.
When Pankaj Chaurasia contacted, he denied the charge. He said, at the time of registration for coaching like any other classes of dance, gym etc. we made it clear that Taekwando game is not recognized by the government for gradation purposes. It is for self-defence purposes. However, the competitions are held at the state and national and international levels under the aegis of Association of Taekwondo India GTF India Kolkata and recognized by Global Taekwondo Federation, Canada.
