Sukhbir Badal, Bikram Majithia & others acquitted by Zira court
Zira/Ferozepur, November 29, 2023: President of Shiromani Akali Dal and Member of Parliament from Ferozepur Sukhbir Singh Badal, and others have been acquitted in a case by the Zira court.
Added here, during the previous Congress government, when the Nagar Panchayat Mallanwala and Nagar Panchayat Makhu elections were held in 2017, the Akali Dal candidates were not allowed to file nomination papers. In protest, the Akali Dal had protested against the then Congress government by blocking the Bengaliwala bridge, near Makhu causing inconvenience to the public.
At that time a case had been registered under sections 341/283/431/188/148 of IPC and 8 B of National Highway Act 1956 by Makhu Police Station against these leaders and 150-200 more Akalis who were sitting on dharna the highway on the allegations of blocking the road on Harike Bridge and obstructing the traffic. The same was pending in the court for trial/decision.
Today, the court of SDJM Parminder Kaur at Zira pronounced the verdict acquitting many leaders including Sukhbir Singh Badal, Bikram Singh Majithia, Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Barjinder Singh Brar General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal, Vardev Singh Noni Mann, Avtar Singh Zira, Sher Singh Mand, Mantar Singh Brar, Satpal Singh Talwandi Many leaders including members of the Shiromani Committee.
While talking to the journalists, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia said that they have always believed in the judiciary.
