Ferozepur, December 27, 2015 : Charanjit Singh Atwal, Speaker Vidhan Sabha Punjab presided over valedictory function of 19th Championship of Trophy Malkeet Singh Sidhu Memorial Hockey Tournament at Moga today. He was accompanied by Nidharak Singh Brar State Information Commissioner, Punjab
Atwal invited the youths to participate in sports as sports are the important part of human beings which teaches them to remain in strong mutual harmony and discipline.
He said, the government is making all out efforts to promote sports in the state.
Making a reference of wrestler Darasingh, Gunge Pehalwal, Dyan Chand of Hockey and top most sports person Balbir Singh, he said, the country has produced so many prominent sports person.
Appreciating the Hockey Tournaments organized by the Trust, he said, it is possible that players like Dhyan Chand could be come up from this playground.
Atwal also announce financial grant of Rs.1 lakh to the Trust from his discretionary quota.
Speaking on this occasion, Nidharak Singh Brar, State Information Commissioner also appreciated the efforts of the late Malkeet Singh
Sidhu Memorial Trust.
In today’s girl matches, Amritsar team defeated Takhanadh by 4:1.
