Shaheed Bhagat Singh Polytechnic Wing organizes 6th Annual Cultural Festival – VIRSA-2016
Ferozepur, March 22, 2016 : Sixth Annual Cultural Festival, “VIRSA-2016” was celebrated under the guidance of Prof Rahul Chopra (Chairman-AREB) with great pump and show in the Polytechnic Wing of SBS State Technical Campus, Ferozepur. Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Campus Director was the Chief Guest during this cultural festival. The main theme of this cultural festival was to aware people to curb the practice of Dowry, which is an alarming and frightening reality in today’s society.
The function began with GaneshVandana presented by students of Shining Stars Group. Dr. T. S. Sidhu (Campus Director) in his welcome speech thanked all distinguished guests. He praised the efforts of students, faculty and staff of Polytechnic Wing for all arrangements. Prof. Gazal Preet Singh, Principal Poly Wing, in his speech advised youth to follow the footsteps of our great martyrs and to imbibe their great love and affection towards our country. He emphasized that Dowry System is greatest curse in Indian Society, due to which sacred affair of marriage is destroyed and it is turned to a business deal.
In this cultural extravaganza various events stated to Choreography on Dowry System in India. Punjab’s rich and deep rooted culture and heritage were presented in the form of Bhangra and Gidda. Mr Khushdeep Singh of Nikki Awaz Punjab Di fame (MH-1) sung various melodious traditional Punjabi songs and enthralled the audience. Choreography on Dowry System was appreciated by all present. All students enjoyed and danced during performances of Malvai Gidda, Solo dance, Group Dance, Jodi Dance and Solo Singing competitions.
Students of various branches presented their flair and caliber with great enthusiasm. All the faculty members and students made this night a glamorous and memorable night. The Award of Mr VIRSA was won by Mr. Pahul Preet Singh of first year Mechanical Engg and Miss Virsa was won by Ms Rinku from Second year ECE. In Solo Song competition Mr Ishak of CE second year; in Solo Dance competition Ms Mamta of third year Computer Engg came first; in Jori Dance Mr Arpit and Ms Vaishnavi came first; in Comedy competition Mr Gurpreet Singh, Mr Sudipta Behera, Mr Harwinder Singh and Ms Rupa came first; in Poetry competition Ms Sandeep Bhullar and Md. Iliyas were winners. Gidda was performed by Mandeep Kaur, Shivangi, Karamjeet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Navdeep Kaur, Seema, Jyoti and Ravinder came first.
The Bhangra and Malwai Gidda team was trained by Mr Rubal Singh. The Malwai Gidha team and Bhangra team members were Ishak, Sajan, Sunil, Gurmeet Teji, Mishil Sharma, Rajdeep, Pahul Preet Singh, Arundeep Singh and Gunwant Singh.
At the end of the Principal Polytechnic Wing Sh. Gazal Preet Singh and Sh. Rahul Chopra (Chairman-AREB) paid their heartfull thanks to all the audience and distinguished guests. He specially congratulated the AREB team, namely Gagandeep Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Danish Kataria, Danish Sharma, Manthan Bajaj, Ankit Passi, Gurpreet Singh, Akhilesh Kumar, Sudhakar and Keshav Kunal. He also congratulated the decoration Committee members, namely Rohit Rajput, Bhushan Singh, Bikash Kumar, Kaushal, Nitesh Pandey, Rinkal, Kajol and Glory Priya.
The stage was very well managed by Comperers Mandeep Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, Harpanthparteek Kaur, Ankit Dhawan, Maninder Singh and Randeep Singh.
