SBS State Technical Campus Ferozepur first to implement Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme
Ferozepur, June 30, 2017 : Shaheed Bhagat Singh Technical Campus, Ferozepur is the first engineering institute to implement the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme – CMSS – recently launched by Chief Minister, Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, to provide accessible, affordable and quality technical education to the meritorious students of the Punjab state.
The meritorious students who could not afford to join reputed government institute SBSSTC due to heavy fee structure will be benefited. In fact, the fee charged by private engineering and polytechnic colleges is less than charged by government engineering and polytechnic colleges
and the previous government turned a blind eye to provide the technical education to all section of society in government institutes.
Giving this information, Dr.T.S.Sidhu, Director, SBSSTC said, Chairman, BoG, Akhil Malhotra has approved to adopt the said scheme for B.Tech and Diploma courses. Under the scheme, the students of Punjab would get the fee waiver as per the percentage of marks obtained in 10+2 and 10th respectively. The interested students can get by participating in the admission process on July 10, 2017,
Divulging with the details, Sidhu said, under this scheme, students scoring 60-70% marks in Class 10+2/10th will get 70% fee waiver, 80% fee waiver for those getting between 70% and 80% marks and 90% for those scoring 80-90% marks. Students with 90-100% marks will get 100% tuition fee waiver.
Talking to Ferozepuronline.com, Sidhu said, SBSSTC is the first college in the state to impllement Chief Minister Scholarships Schme.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus is the only engineering institute which has been upgraded by Punjab Govt to the level of State Technical Campus. The institute is accredited by NAAC, having 5 B.Tech courses – Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and academic autonomy status given by University Grants Commission (UGC). Recently, Punjab Govt has given best green campus award to SBSSTC along with a cash award of Rs.One lac.
Sidhu said, with the implementation of this scheme in SBSSTC the meritorious students, who cannot afford high fee structure, could pursue for quality and affordable technical education in this prestigious institute having qualified and experienced faculty and state-of-the-art Laboratories and other infrastructure. The students of SBSSTC can also avail the opportunity to study abroad under students exchange programs.
