Ferozepur, January 25, 2016:  In protest against the suicide by dalit student Rohith Vemula’s, the Congress workers led by Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa, District Congress President, burn in effigy of Smriti Irani,Union Human Resources Development Minister, at traffic lights in cantonment.

 

Holding Smriti Irani responsible for the suicide by Rohith Vemula – a Phd student of Hyderabad University on being expelled from the university, Chamkaur Singh Dhinds said, NDA government is not treating with the dalits properly and the suicide by Rohith is the glaring example who was compelled to commit suicide.

 

Charging the NDA government, Dhindsa said,  before the elections, the government has promised for ‘achhe din’ and is it a part of ache din with committing suicide by the student?

 

He demanding from the government to remove Smriti Irani from the Ministry and give financial assistance to the victim’s family of Rs.50 lakh besides job to one of the family member.

 

Dhindsa said, the agitation will continue till such time the victim’s family gets justice.

 

Later, the Congress workers protested at the traffic lights on the main Ferozepur-Moga road and burn in effigy of Smriti Irani at the traffic lights.

 

Added here that earlier Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal had also demanded that the name if Smriti Irani be added to the FIR previously lodged against University of Hyderabad vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile, Union minister of state Bandaru Dattatreya, local BJP MLC N Ramachandra Rao and ABVP student leaders Susheel Kumar and Krishna Chaitanya.
