Ferozepur, August 10, 2016 : Rajiv Arora, Assistant Prof. at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur presently doing a research on edible oil and bio-fuel at Punjab University, Chandigarh, is among the top 33 shortlisted technology innovators for the Incubation Center, Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh).
The AP government, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and IC2 Institute of The University of Texas (USA), is going to launch a Technology Accelerator in Tirupati next month. During this initial program period, Global Commercialization Group (GCG) of the program will train innovators and entrepreneurs, select startups for admission to the Tirupati Incubator and provide international business development services to the innovators and incubating companies. Tirupati Incubation Centre has envisioned the program as a model for the state—a state with a goal of “an entrepreneur in every family” and the establishment of 100 new incubation facilities.
Speaking to the media persons, Rajiv Arora said, the IC2 program at Tirupati will bring significant economic impact to the State. The program aims to develop over 1000 innovative companies and train over 6000 scientists, innovators, engineers, entrepreneurs in AP from all over the world. The incubates companies will be aimed to create a revenue impact of over Rs.250 crores for first phase and cumulative revenue of over Rs.2000 crores for a period of 5 years and over Rs.6000 crores over a period of 10 years. The program will create thousands of new jobs in first and second phase of 5 years each.
It may be added here that the selection for the innovators started in May 2016 and after several rounds of screening, 33 innovators were shortlisted, which will be provided further assistance in commercialization of their technology.
Informing about his research, Prof. Rajiv Arora told that he presented his latest research on the extraction of oil using greener and non-toxic solvents and this technology is eco-friendly besides having huge commercialization potential globally. He didn’t disclose much about his innovation as the patent filing is still pending.
Prof. Rajiv Arora, said, the Punjab Government too should take such initiative to set up incubators for the industrial grown in Punjab especially in the field of food processing industry so that there is no brain-drain of Punjab’s available talent.
He also apprised Mrs.Harsimrat Kaur Badal Cabinet Minister for Food Processing in December 2014 personally about his future plans for more research on utilization of waste edible oil. He was, however, disappointed for not giving weightage to his plans for arranging more research on utilization of waste edible oil at the level of government for which the initial research work has already been completed.
However, the same proposal was submitted to AP government which has considered for further completion of research for commercial purposes.
