Regularization of contract staff: PCEAC sees a ray of hope after meeting with Chief Secretary
Ferozepur, May 9, 2017: Falling victim of procedural wrangles, the contract employees see a ray of hope after a meeting of the representatives of Punjab Contract Employees Action Committing today had a meeting with Karan Avtar Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab with regard to long pending demand of regularization of their services.
The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere. Karan Avtar Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab assured the deputation of PCEAC to arrange meeting with the Chief Minister with regard to implementation of their demands.
It is pertinent to mention that these contractual employees in various departments of the state government are working for the last even more than ten years.
A case on this account is already under consideration with the High Court and they are working on certain directions issued by the court to take decision to regularize the services of contractual staff, said Varinderlpal Singh after attending the meeting with the Chief Secretary.
Apart from this PCEAFC also demanded to reinstate the Suwidha Centre employees to which also CS assured to consider on this demand seriously.
The CS also assured to form a committee which will go in detail about the 95 police cases registered against hundreds of employees, they said.
It was further assured to the deputation that a meeting with the Chief Minister will be arranged before the Assembly Session in the first week of June.
In all, the meeting with the Chief Secretary was in affirmative. However, the executive committee of PCEAC will hold its meeting at Ludhiana on May 13 to plan further strategy in the event of failure of talks with the government.
