Recovery of mobile phones exposes jail security chink
Ferozepur, May 9, 2020: Recovery of mobiles from jail inmates has put a question mark on the security arrangements. Smuggling in mobiles has become a mystery with the frequent recovery of mobiles from the prisoners and alleged connivance of officials cannot be ruled out on finding one more mobile from the jail inmate.
All the time tip-off is received by the jail authorities but so far no follow up history has been revealed and shared with the media, about the motive behind the purpose of the use of mobile. During the current year, more than 50 mobiles have been recovered from the jail inmates and there is a need to strengthen the security arrangements at the entry points.
Divulging with the details on whose complaint a case has been registered against the prisoner identified as Ravinder Singh under Prisons Act 1894, Najeet Singh Assistant Superintendent said on the basis of a tip-off, the inmate was searched when one mobile of Samsun brand keypad with battery and SIM card was recovered from under trial prisoner Ravinder Singh. He said a case has been registered and further investigations are on by the IO appointed in this case.
