Raja Warring condemns statement of Akal Takht Jathedar about keeping weapons
Ferozepur, May 2022: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who was here today, at Congress Workers Meet, condemned the statement of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh that we need to keep modern weapons.
Responding to Giani Harpreet Singh’s statement that Sikh youth should keep licensed weapons, Warring said there is no danger to any particular community but it was a matter of serious concern, and such a statement from the Takht Jathedar, who presides over the highest status of the Sikh community and should restrain from such statements without explaining facts.
Warring said, Had there been any discrimination with the Sikh community, one can think of such statement. But I would like to ask as to in which context, he has said this statement. There is no danger to any particular community. We don’t need any weapons but the person who is in need of a weapon must be a responsible person so that he may use the same for his personal security and not for taking blood.
He said, the statement of Jathedar may not create turmoil in the state, and tomorrow another community may come forward with the same request.
