Rabid dog menace in Ferozepur, bites 13 at different areas in a single day

DOG BITING IN FEROZEPUR

Ferozepur, December 16, 2015:  Indians experience amongthe highest rates of dot bites in the world as 36 per cent of the world’s rabies deaths occur in India,according to the World Health Organization (WHO).  Today, the stray dog bit to 13 persons at different places in the city which created a terror in Feroepur.

 

Despite numerous complaints from local citizens, the Municipal Council has failed to take action against the menace.

 

As many as 13 persons suffered injuries after being bit by a stray dog today in different parts of the city within a short span of time – colony under bridge, housing board colony, Gandhi nagar, civil hospital, mall road, udham singh chowk. The citizens alleged that it was a rabid dog.

 

Immediately on coming to know of the incident, the district administration came into action and all the affected persons were sent to the Civil Hospital and give the injection of first dose with instructions to get second vaccine dose after three days.

 

A team was also constituted consisting of doctor of Animal Husbandry Deptt and Naib Tehsildar and duty charged and the rabid dog was killed.
