Purpose to separate criminals from society lost, gangster prisoner booked for keeping mobile
Ferozepur, November 1, 2020: The purpose to separate criminals from society on the announcement of punishment by the court to keep them in jail for a certain period, has lost with the recovery of mobile from the gangster jail inmate, during the routine search operation at Central Jail.
On Saturday, during the search operation, a gangster prisoner identified as Akul Kumar alias Khatri at Central Jail Ferozepur has been booked for keeping the most wanted banned item – Samsung – Key Pad while colour with SIM Card.
In the past also there had been recovery of mobiles from the inmates and thrown from outside over the high walls of Jails besides booking of jail officials in connivance and helping in smuggling in mobiles and other banned items. Strict vigil of jail officials has led to these recoveries but this has put a question mark on the security arrangements in and around the jail premises as the purpose of keeping the criminals away from social activities as punishment, from inside the jail is lost.
A case under Section 52-A Prisons Act has been booked at City police station on the complaint of Karamjit Singh Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail. Further investigations are on.
Jagir Singh has been appointed as IO in this case, and further investigations are on with special focus on smuggling in of mobile, its usage and contacts with a specific intention.
