Punjab’s 8 Youth and Students Organizations advocates for Employment Guarantee Act

Ferozepur, October 17, 2016:  Today, Punjab’s  8 Youth and Students Organizations advocated for Employment Guarantee Act – jobs for all – with free education, medical treatment and employemtn guaranty, between the age of 18-58 years, from the historical land of Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.

CALL for employment guarantee actA joint statement was released in this context by Paramjit Singh Dhaban, State President, Jaswinder Singh Dhesi, State President Sarb Bharat Naujawan Sabha, Swaranjit Singh, State Secretary, Harman Himatt Pura, Charanjit Singh Chhanga RAi, Senior Vice President, All India Students Federation, Navdeep Kotkapura, Punjab President,Punjab Students Federation, Harinder Bajwa State President, SFI, and Pardeep Gurur, President, All India Students Association.

 

After this statement, youths and students issued another announcement to organize Human Chain at Ludhiana on November 17 on the eve of Kartar Singh Sarabha martyrs day for formulation of Employment Guarantee Act in toto.

They also invited various other people-friendly organizations to come forward to support the initiative for the welfare of youths of Punjab.

Under the scheme, employment guarantee will be ensured with minimum per month wages according to the ability like Rs.20000 for uneducated, Rs.25,000 for educated, Rs.30000 for skilled and Rs.35,000 for highly skilled, they said. In the event of providing no job, unemployed allowance of minimum of Rs.10000 and for educated persons fifty persons of full wages will be given. The contractual system will be totally withdrawn and there will be regular employment in every department.  The economic exploitation of youths will also be totally stopped with no fees while applying for any post.

 

The second target of announcement is free and compulsory education to allow with complete check on commercialization and privatization of education.

 

The third announcement was of health facilities  to all with 100 bed hospitals at block level and one doctor for every 500 patients.

 

Expressing concern over the drug menace among the youths, the next announcement was a gurantee to take stern legal action against the police-smugglers nexus besides complete ban of drugs during the elections.

 

A provision has also been made to attach the youths of Punjab with the sports and rich culture of the state by setting up the sports stadium, libraries and cultural activities in the name of patriots at the village and block level.
