Punjab Police organize 69 Seminars under ‘Navekli Pehal’ campaign in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, July 16, 2024: In a robust drive against drug abuse, the Punjab police have conducted 69 seminars under the ‘Navekli Pehal’ campaign over the past week, starting from July 8. These seminars aim to raise awareness about the ill effects of drugs, especially targeting youth, and motivate them to lead healthy and stress-free lives.
SSP Soumya Mishra shared that the seminars took place in various schools and prominent locations across Ferozepur City, Guruharsahai, and Zira blocks. Additionally, awareness camps were organized at the police station level in Gulami Wala, Basti Sekhan Wali, and Dulchi ke in Subdivision City, as well as at Sandhe Hasham, Sahan Ke, Sodhi Nagar, and Wada Jawahar Singh Wala in Sub-division Rural. In Sub-division Guruharsahai, the events were held at Makhan Singh Wala, Ganji Wala, Bahadur Ke, Panje Ke Uttar, Jhawla, and Dona Mattar. In Sub-division Zira, they were organized at Saanjh Kendra, Makhu, Dharamshala Mallanwala, Behak Gujran, and Bus Stand Zira.
SSP Mishra further mentioned that surprise checks are being conducted at various drug hotspots, involving the inspection of suspicious individuals and vehicles. In the past week, 105 individuals were booked, bringing the total to 151 persons charged in the district for engaging in illegal activities. Efforts are also underway to freeze the properties of drug smugglers acquired through illegal means.
On Environment Day, the police units contributed by planting saplings to promote a pollution-free environment. SSP Mishra highlighted the recovery of 1.626 grams of heroin and the arrest of seven individuals in four cases registered under the NDPS Act. She emphasized that the campaign against drugs, anti-social elements, and unscrupulous individuals would be a continuous effort.
