Punjab Medical Laboratory Technician proceeds on Pen-Down Strike hits patients

Ferozepur, December 3, 2016: Medical Services at the Civil Hospital were hit as Laboratory Technicians observed a pen-down strike to press for their long-pending demands.

Kulwant Singh, President, Medical Laboratory Technician Association, Ferozepur Unit and Majoj Grover, General Secretary informed that the agitation will be intensified as the government has failed to provide time to the panel meeting by organizing a state level dharna at Lambi – the constituency represented by Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab – on December 4, 2016.

They further threatened that in case their demands were not accepted immediately, the medical laboratory technicians from all parts of the State will also put on hold the emergency services in hospital.

They also said, the state government had been adopting an indifferent attitude towards their demands. They lamented that the memorandum was given several times to the public representatives, but steps were still awaited.

The demands of  technicians include – restoring of pay parity, increase in promotion channel, change of existing designations, diet allowance, fixed allowance, restoring of old pension scheme are the major one.

Present among others on this occasion were Alvin Bhatti, Sudhir Alexender, Aeu Beg, P S Lakba, Mukesh Kamboj, Rakesh Kumar, Arun Kumar, and B M Gill.
