Punjab Govt Teachers Union to hold Convention on October 1

Ferozepur, September 16, 2017 :  The Government Teachers Union in Punjab has decided to celebrate the historical day of October 1 – when the government schools in Punjab came into existence – by holding a Convention at Jalandhar, to highlight the problems being faced by the children and  various teachers recruited under Save Government Education Campaign in different categories – SSA, RMSA, 7654, 3442, 5178, CSS Hindi, Education Provider, EGS, AIE, STR, IEV, IERT, PTA etc.

The major demands of GTU include to roll back the decision for compulsory retirement of teachers on completion of 50 years service and introduction of old pension scheme for the teachers recruited after January 1, 2004, to regularize their services, shifting of Adarsh School teachers, computer teaches in the education department and filling up of vacant posts with TET passed candidates, said Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, State President, GTU.

Stating this to the media persons,, Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, State President state that the state body has decided celebrate October 1 by holding the Convention at Jalandhar to remind the political leaders of pre-poll promises made with the teaching community and to announce the future strategy to take a tough stand with the government with regard to the genuine demands of the teachers.

He said, the political leaders including the Education Minister have failed to fulfill their promises made before the elections and also keeping it as a part of their manifesto after coming into power.

For the common demands, Punjab Subordination Services Federation has decided to organize district level protests by burning the government effigy to register their concern.
