Punjab Construction Workers Welfare Board to extend financial assistance to beneficiaries
Ferozepur, November 21, 2017: To uplift the living standards of the construction workers and their family members in the state of Punjab, the government has extended various welfare schemes for them by enrolling them as beneficiaries with the Board.
Any worker doing any building and other construction work in the State of Punjab for minimum 90 days during the last 12 months and whose age is between 18 to 60 years is a construction worker.
As many as 1466 beneficiaries will be given the financial assistance of Rs.1,34,11,836 to the construction workers by Punjab Construction Board under various schemes – for treatment of chronic diseases apart from scholarships, shagan, LTC, ex-gratia and cremation schemes, said Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur.
Giving the details, he said, the Punjab Building and other Construction Welfare Board will provide scholarship scheme for 1014 children of Rs.76.83 lac, 45 beneficiaries to get Rs.13.95 lac under shagan scheme, 341 to get Rs.6.82 lac under LTC, Rs.25 lac to 8 families under ex-gratia scheme, for cremation Rs.2.80 lac to 14 persons, Rs.3.70,336 to 21 persons for general surgery, Rs.50,000 to one handicap and Rs.30,000 to 6 families for delivery.
The amount will be directly transferred to the account of the beneficiaries, he added.
