Punjab Arthia Association threatens agitation for non-payment of Rs.400 crore  by rice millers and exporters

Ferozepur, July 26, 2017 :  The Punjab Arthia Association today in its meeting at local old grain market, in Ferozepur Cantonment, held under the chairmanship of Amarjit Singh Brar, Vice President, threatened to intensify agitation for non-payment of Rs.400 crore by rice millers and exporters to the arthias – commission agents – against purchase of basmati during the last three years.

Amarjit Singh Brar said, the old millers and exporters in the state have not paid the balance payment of around Rs.400 crore on account of purchase of basmati rice, which has disbursed the financial position of the arthias in the state for the last three years.

Giving a warning to the millers and exporters, he said, in case the balance amount due to the arthias are not cleared, the agitation will be intensified in the state besides neither allowing the fresh purchases nor allowing the storage of paddy in the government account.

He further said, with the disbanding of truck unions in the state, we will ensure that the payment of lifting of goods from the mandis are paid directly to the arthias in their bills.   

On this occasion, Ashok Garg, President Arthia Association, Ferozpur Cantonment, Sanjeev Rajdev Secretary, Mohit Goyal Treasurer,  Tilak Raj Arhitya Association, Ferozepur City, Krishna Krishan Treasurer and arthias from the adjoining mandis were present.
