PSU gives Punjab Bandh call of educational institutions on September 7

PSU CALL FOR BANDH ON SEPT 7

Ferozepur, September 6, 2016 :  On a call from Punjab Students Union to close educational institutions on September 7 in the State to register their protest demanding replacement of existing Semester System with old Annual Exam System, today rallies were organized at Govt. ITI Boys, Govt. Polytechnic College and RSD College.

Addressing the students, PSU State President, Rajinder Singh and Students Leader Gurpreet Singh said, the introduction of semester system is a modus-operandi to sack the students.  With the existing semester system, the students are charged twice in a year for examination and tuition fee and maximum time of students is consumed in internal papers.  Not only this, the teachers too don’t get much time because of being busy in checking the papers.

Thus, there is a need to replace the existing semester system with the old annual exam system, they added.

They further pointed out that the income limit of Rs.2.5 lac for Dalit students needs to be abolished and the students of general category upto Rs.2.5 lac should be condoned in view of the fact that small farmers, shopkeepers face great difficulty in depositing the fee of their children.

Reminding of the free education to girls upto Post-graduation promised by Akali-BJP government but the same has not been fulfilled and should be implemented forthwith irrespective of belonging to any category or income group.

Present on this occasion were Rupinder Singh, Luvpreet Singh Harpreet Singh, Jagdev Singh also addressed the students and announced the closure of educational institution on September 7.
