Despite assurance by the Centre government for amendments in the laws, the protests by the farmers with support from all sections of society continued at Delhi and in the state.  In this context, a protest march from Namdev Chowk to Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk was also organized in this border town by the Primary Teachers Front in support of farmers who are fighting for their rights against the rollback of three Farm Laws at Delhi.

The three laws are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.

The Prime Minister Narendera Modi had virtually ruled out a rethink on the three farm laws terming the laws as a part of reforms a step towards growth of different sectors of economy.  Meanwhile, the Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar has said, the government is ready to consider with an open mind any provision in the new laws where farmers have any issues and we want to clarify all their apprehensions.  But the farmers’ outfits are adamant over complete rollback of farm laws.

Strongly condemning the anti-farmers three black Farm Laws, Sukhwinder Singh Bhullar, spokesman of Primary Teachers Front-PTF said, in this battle, the PTF is ready to participate in this hour of crisis of the farmers-labourers.

The protest was lead by Centre head teachers Gurmit Singh Kakuwala and others shouting slogans against the Modi government and made an appeal to withdraw the three Farm Laws.

The protesters said, in case the Farm Laws are not withdrawn, the agitation will be intensified to support the farmers.
