Protest March against reservation by general category families
Ferozepur, August 11, 2018: Today, Sri Aror Vansh Sabha joined the protest against reservation by general category families. During the protest, the participants advocated for the reservation but strictly on the economic basis.
Speaking on the occasion, A.K.Khindri, Naveen Sharma said the reservation has become a chronic problem for the country. The reservation policy is dividing the society and has created tension amongst various communities. Political parties are using this as a vote bank.
They said, we are not against the reservation but this facility should be extended strictly on the economic basis. At the same time, there should be no recruitment in excess of the quota.
The basic purpose of giving reservation to SC/ST employees has been over and now this policy is being extended for political reasons. Even now the only rich people who had already taken benefits of reservation are reaping the harvest at the cost of poor SC/ST employees.
Other speakers opposed the proposed 117th Amendment to the Constitution to provide reservation in the promotion along with consequential seniority from 1995. They said that the amendment would lead to a wipe-out of the general categories from the services as no cap/limit was being made by the Centre regarding the percentage of the Scheduled Castes.
