Police busts “Likhari Gang” involved in various incidents in Ferozepur
Two arrested with recovery of arms
Makhu, May 22, 2016 : The police claimed to have busted gang running under the name as ‘Likhari Gang” involved in number of crimes at Makhu in Ferozepur.
According to Gurpreet Singh Sran, SHO, the police got a tip-off, that some members of the Likhari Gang, equipped with weapons are changing the number of plates of vehicles near the kachha bandh of Gatti Harike and planning to execute some major crime.
Immediately on raiding at the designated spot, while two of its members identified as Jasbir Singh alias Jass of village Dotian and Gurpartap Singh of village Assal of Tarn Taran District, have been arrested while other members managed to escape from the spot. The police also recovered 2 pistols .32 bore along with 20 rounds and a double barrel .12 bore gun from their possession.
The preliminary investigations reveal that Jasbir had been involved in the incident of firing in front of college of Aswani Sekhri – apart from eight different cases in different police stations in the state -while the other member of the Likhari Gang – Surpreet Singh Harry had succeeded to release a thief from the police custody. Police disclosed that no police could be successful to arrest Jasbir singh so far who had been involved about 8 different cases in different police stations of Punjab.
The police have registered a case No. 50 u/s 38/399/402/473 IPC and 25/27/54/59 under Arms Act. The investigation is on and police raiding at the suspected places to nab the remaining members of the gang. More clues are expected to come on surface during further examination of the case.
