Police bust gang of mobile throw in jail, 6 mobiles recovered from inmates
Ferozepur, January 24, 2023: The Ferozepur police have busted a gang of mobile throw in jail gang of five members. On January 22 and 23, during the search operation carried out in the Central Jail by Sukhjinder Singh, Jasvir Singh and Kashmir Chand, Assistant Superintendents, 6 mobiles and 2 batteries were recovered from the jail inmates and lying unclaimed.
Ironically, the jail is surrounded by high rising buildings and open space along with the back wall and the police find it difficult to track movement of people in these private properties. There had been a number of incidents in the past of throwing of packets inside the jail with banned items and the Chinese mobiles are so small which can be thrown by putting in the balls.
As per the information, one mobile from Sukhvinder Singh, under trial prisoner with battery but without SIM card, two from Surinder Singh with battery and SIM, three lying unclaimed – one with SIM card and two without SIM cards along with 2 batteries.
A case under Section 52-A of Prisons Act has been registered with appointment of Dalip Kumar as IO and further investigations are on.
SSP Kanwardeep Kaur speaking to media persons said, a mobile throw gang of 5 members was busted and three Iphones were recovered and after that no incident of throw of smart phone has come to notice. Police teams are working on it and shortly share the outcome. We have come to know that that drug has been recovered from the employee, who is also being booked. Further investigations are on. She said, no one will be spared, involved in this, whosoever may be – jail employee or accused, there will be no leniency.
