Police, BSF in joint operation recover 5.150 kg heroin, pistol and rounds
Ferozepur, December 30,2020: CIA staff Ferozepur has recovered 5.150 kg heroin and one pistol 30 bore, two magazine and two live rounds from Santokh Singh Wala post of BSP near Jalalabad.
BSF, in 2020 has also seized 497 kg of heroin during the various operations carried out along the 550-km long Indo-Pak border in addition to the recoveries by the police and other law enforcement agencies operating along the border. It is almost double the previous years which was 221 kg in 2018 and 227.55 kg in 2019.
SSP Bhupinder Singh, a tp-off was received by the police on December 22 and working swiftly on this, the recovery of heroin and arms and ammunition has been recovered from the spotted place with the arrest of drug smuggler, Dharampreet Singh alias Dharmi, who was earlier arrested by the police with 150 gm heroin. During further investigation, 5 kg heroin, one pistol, two magazine and two live rounds were recovered. During the investigation, it has also come on surface that the smuggler arrested also had close links with two Pakistani smugglers.
He said, on the basis of various inputs, a joint operation was carried out with the BSF 2 Bn F Coy Jalaladbad SS Wala post across the barbed fencing near Gate No.230/M at Zero Line for recovery of heroin, arms and ammunition. During the further interrogation, more recovery is expected, he added.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Kulgarhi police station under NDPS Act.
