Pensioners hold protest wearing ‘Black Robes’
Ferozepur, December 13, 2018: The Punjab Pensioners Association, Ferozepur led by President Balwant Singh Sandhu, General Secretary Om Prakash and General Secretary Ajit Singh Sodhi today staged a protest by wearing black robes by marching from Bus Stand Ferozepur City to old hospital and condemned the anti-pensioners policies of the government.
Speaking to Ferozepuronline.com, the Pensioners Union leaders levelling charges on the government said, the government is ill-treating the pensioners who had served with the government three-four decades and employees presently in service and they are left with no alternative to registering their protest by organizing a protest march. They said, the government has forgotten its promises made during the elections and there is a great resentment among them.
Making it clear that in the coming Lok Sabha elections, they said, the government has to face the consequences. Pensioners demanded that arrears of 22 months from July 2015 onwards be released immediately, a balance of four instalments of DA of January 2017, the introduction of Pay Commissioner report from 2016, Medical allowance increase from Rs.500 to Rs.2500 and interim relief of 20 per cent.
Giving a warning to the government, the pensioners said, in case their demands are not accepted, the agitation will be intensified in the coming days.
